The free-space check is per test, and nextest runs the five gates concurrently without reserving capacity, so the threshold has to cover what they need together, not what one of them needs. Measured peak across all five running concurrently: 4.1-4.5 GB, against a 4 GiB threshold. Raise it to 6 GiB. A mount too small to clear the bar means falling back to disk, which is the safe direction; the old value could let every gate pass its own check and then collectively hit ENOSPC.
